OFSAA Boys’ Volleyball and Girls’ Basketball Results
This past weekend several NRHSAA teams represented SOSSA at the OFSAA Boys’ Volleyball and Girls’ Basketball Championships. NRHSAA teams came home with five medals. AA Boys’ Volleyball: E L Crossley takes home the silver medal. AAA Boys’ Volleyball: Eden takes home the gold medal. Honourable mention to A N Myer, who finished 1st in pool play, only to have the misfortune to come up against Eden in the quarter finals….
Niagara Teacher-Coaches Take on OFSAA Championships
Much appreciation to several Niagara area teacher-coaches for volunteering to host last minute OFSAA fall championships. What normally takes a year to prepare, these individuals have volunteered to put in place with just weeks to spare. 2020 Fall Sports
On behalf of the District School Board of Niagara and its’ partners in the Niagara Region High School Athletic Association (NRHSAA), the difficult decision of putting a hold on 2020 fall sports has been made. This decision is in alignment with the province’s Stage 3 reopening regulations, which apply a number of restrictions to sports and recreation activities. This situation will be reassessed in October. Until then, stay safe everyone.
SWC Girls’ Volleyball Team Wins OFSAA Team Sportsmanship Award
Congratulations to the Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School senior girls’ volleyball team, coached by Brent Mergl and assisted by Tammy Short. Not only did the girls finish 2-1 in pool play, they made it to the OFSAA quarter finals. After the championship, the school was notified that the team won the Team Sportsmanship Award.
